The newlife flavour

newLife has to be a family which believes in a God who is who He says He is and does what He says He does. Only by believing this will we become the people He says He wants. We must take joy in believing in a God who has created all things and continues to be creative in ways that surpass the logic and reasoning of mankind. To believe in the God who is revealed in every page of scripture brings a confidence for newLifers to live a value-filled life, develop a miracle-attracting faith and have an expectation of heavenly resource.

We must not reduce our view of God into a more convenient and palatable image. This will only produce impotent behaviour, simply a form of Godliness. newLife will paint a picture of a big God with every sentence of each sermon, every syllable of each song and every plea in each prayer. His power & glory will never fail to be on display in cell, congregation and celebration.

The belief in a Big God will cause a deep longing to see people become all they can be. For them to live life large, to experience it to the full, to place body, soul and spirit into the service of God … to become Big People. We will be big enough to think small and aim for nothing less than making, maturing and mobilising disciples and continue to prioritise cells as the best place for these disciples to be raised and released. We will provide ways for Friends and Partners to discover a fulfilling outlet to contribute their time, talent and treasure and ensure they find encouragement and appreciation at every turn.

We will commit to growing people in love displayed through our values see them experience forgiveness, overcome weaknesses, resist the enemy and find freedom in God. We will join with the angels in celebrating every success and rejoice with everyone who is growing big on the inside.

A church that believes in a Big God and behaves in a way that matches its belief will find itself becoming a Big Church. Big in every way. A church that Jesus celebrates not tolerates. In the countywide community of faith we must be big enough to lead and big enough to follow another’s lead. Our dependence on God will allow us to be trusted by Him with quests great and small, with heavy responsibility and if He wills it holy revival.

We will joyfully promote our flavour both at home and abroad, excited about what God has made us, whilst honouring and even encouraging other expressions of church. We will look for ways to allow all in our county to taste New Life, planting cells and congregations where possible.

newLife will be a church that is valuable to God and invaluable to the community. Our inner belief and behaviour will overflow into community and soak earth with heaven. The community will be puzzled as it struggles to comprehend our single-minded devotion to Christ with our desperation to bring hope to people of all persuasions. As we become big in character we believe He will be faithful and give the increase. We will be in awe as our cells and congregations multiply becoming part of the harvest of souls only He deserves.

We believe in a message that carries hope and always has the ability to improve the lives of individuals and the life of a community. Our lives and programmes will offer hope socially, morally and spiritually. The message of Christ, though primarily one of spiritual salvation, has the power also to save people from anything that robs them of their true God-given potential.

People’s lifestyles will be improved because of our commitment to this value.

Enthusiasm is not the same as exuberance though we are excited about our Christianity and its ability to enhance those around us. Enthusiasm is exuberance plus resilience & perseverance. We expect our enthusiasm to make our lives and programmes attractive to the community. Happiness is the norm for followers of Christ and this is reflected in our belief that newLife is a fun place to be.
People’s perceptions will be corrected because of our commitment to this value.

We believe that multiplication is a principle embedded in the Bible for those that obediently follow Christ. We expect our cells and our programmes to show high growth levels and bring honour to God.
People’s attention will be grasped because of our commitment to this value.

We believe that true positive change having any eternal value can only be achieved through the manifestation of God’s will and the efforts of God’s people. We will encourage change within individuals and within our society. We will enable each to make decisions that bring them into the Kingdom of God.

We believe that in order to honour God we should always produce the best we can with the resources available to us. Whether internally or externally, the way we present ourselves will always be of the highest standard.
