As newLife grows and expands into the community we are finding ourselves with more and more properties that need looking after and maintaining. At present we have The House, The Lighthouse, 201, The Life Skills Centre and Gifted to name a few! Caretaking tasks range from the basic (such as cleaning, hoovering, dusting, sweeping, setting up rooms) to the more specialist (such as DIY, mending, building). Therefore if you are practically minded and have a heart to help why not join our Caretaking Team!

With so many people passing through each of newLife’s properties each week we have a dedicated Decorating Team specifically designed to spruce up each room as and when required. In addition to this, whenever we acquire a new property the team are some of the first in there getting stuck into the renovations and providing a lick of paint here and there. If you don’t mind getting gloss in your hair or having the permanent smell of paint stripper on your hands then this team is for you!

The House is the home of newLife, and as a building it is surrounded by beautiful gardens with various types of plants, flowers and greenery. These gardens are the first thing that visitors see when they come to newLife, so we want to make sure that they look excellent in order to honour God. Therefore to keep them in tip top condition we need a growing team of faithful volunteers to help with the upkeep of the grounds by getting stuck into tasks such as cutting the grass, planting new flowers, weeding, hedge trimming and generally helping to make the grounds look brilliant! If you like working outside and are gifted with immunity to hayfever, this is the team for you!    

If you’ve got a heart for helping the homeless and your community or have got a passion, gift or ability you want to share with others then why not become part of our Homeless Services team. We have a number of projects which are geared towards helping the homeless and those who find themselves in need of supported housing, such as The Lighthouse, 201, the Life Skills Centre and Open House (see Community for more details). Don’t miss out on the chance to help those who need it the most!  

Our Hospitality Team is a growing and dynamic team that aims to serve newLife by providing help for the smooth running of internal church events as well as external conferences and concerts. The team is made up of a number of different sub-teams such as Welcome, Set Up Pack Away (SUPA), Catering, Communion and Car Parking, so there’s sure to be something that suits you perfectly!

With so much going on in and around newLife we want to make sure that everyone has the opportunity to hear about it! We currently do this in a number of ways, through the delivery of newspapers, flyers and letters, word of mouth, emails, local advertising and most recently social media such as Facebook and Twitter.  If you have a few spare hours a week, and you are passionate about newLife and have a desire to see new people reached with the good news of Jesus through all that’s going on at newLife, then why not join our Marketing Team and get busy sending tweets, setting up FB groups or simply delivering flyers whilst walking the dog!

Our Media Team is an exciting and creative team that has the privilege of communicating the flavour of newLife in a variety of ways, including projection, live media, graphic design, video production and photography to name a few. This team is for both the experts and beginners eager to learn something new, with the biggest priority being that you enjoy it! CLICK HERE to discover more.

For many years newLife’s Puppeteering Team, No Strings Attached, have travelled around North Lincolnshire and further afield presenting the Gospel to children and adults alike through excellent puppet shows. With the team continually growing in reputation the demand for shows is increasing, so if you’re interested in getting involved and presenting the Gospel creatively this could be the team for you.

If you have concern for vulnerable people out late at night on the streets of Scunthorpe, particularly at the weekend, perhaps being on the Street Pastors team is for you. There are several ways you can get involved. Firstly, you can become a Street Pastor which involves being trained up, donning a uniform and patrolling the streets of Scunthorpe whilst the pubs and clubs are open at night, and helping people who have been drinking or are in distress (or who simply need a taxi home!).  Secondly you can be part of the prayer support group which meets to pray whilst the Street Pastors are out on duty. Finally you can also become a supporter, whether it be physical, financial or material – just ask what you can do to help.  

newLife regularly holds large events at The House in which we creatively communicate the Gospel; these include our flagship events such as Christmas, Easter and our Firework Houseparty. If you have a gift or passion for acting, reading, monologues, comedy sketches, or you just fancy being out of the limelight and helping as an extra, you’ve found your team!  

One of our aims as a church is to try to make everyone aware of God’s love and to provide care and support, in particularly to those who are lonely, vulnerable, sick or elderly. In order to do this both within newLife and further into the community our Visitation team gets out and about to share a smile and bring hope into every situation. If you’ve got a big heart and a desire to brighten up someone’s day then this is definitely the team for you.  

Here at newLife we believe that praising God is one of our highest privileges! We are passionate about leading people into God’s presence through the artistic gifts he has given us, and creatively communicating his message of love. If you have a heart after God’s heart, and a creative gift, why not consider joining our Worship team and get involved in one of the sub-teams such as Music, Dance or Choir.
